Linen Cloth Farming

In Northweatern Westfall, running along the cliff, there is a lone windmill with a tiny shack at its base. It is surrounded by 6-7 Defias mobs, levels 12-13.

Whats the catch?

They respawn immediately. Get the drift?

WHAT LEVEL YOU SHOULD BE:

I would suggest 24+, however I was 33 when I discovered it, and it is still extremely useful when you reach 60.

WHAT TO USE THIS SPOT FOR:

1) Grinding/Maxing new weapon proficiencies...
2) Leveling a toon (lvl 5-16)...and getting him rich, as well.
3) Farming Linen. (For you linen clowns, I easily loot 100 linen in about 5 minutes).
4) Farming these nice little nets that occasionally drop.

There are a lot of these little sweet spots in this game. Hell, how do you think all of these beta-buggers get rich so quickly?

Re: Linen Cloth Farming

I've just done this for 30 minutes on Emerald Dream.

In 30 minutes, I picked up:

240 linen cloth
4 greens (I DEed them)
A gazzilion Red Defias Masks.

The coords are 31,34 (with metamap anyways), the respawn rate is unbeleivable, i'd say from instant to 30 seconds... I sometimes didnt have the time to loot that the mob respawned.

I have a 59 Human rogue on emerald dream, it's about 15 silver per stack in the Alliance market (Used to be 30ish when I started)... not too bad...

Re: Linen Cloth Farming

Ok I made my own farming guide/tips(for high lvs)

1.) kill all those Defias guys in Westfall, kill em all 3-4 times and fill a bag or 2 with linen

2.) after that go into the deadmins and kill everything and if your lucky(like me) a BoE blue will drop and some greens too

3.)after that go into SM and kill all the stuff in all 4 wings and hopefully you can get a BoE blue to drop and AH it for watever

do this a few times and youll have ALOT of gold

Re: Linen Cloth Farming

Guys, is this really yust about the linen?

or can it also be done with silk or wool or leather?
And the deadmines? Don't go in iff you are not higher level. you will die instantly, killed by a elite guy

Moonbrook itself has A LOT of defais guys!
gO THERE .

southwest of sentinel hill and west of there has also allot of defais! south westfall has also a very lot of them..

in eehm,,, wat was its name again... eehm... somewhere near the undercity.. (if you are horde) is a village with humans living there.. i dont know the name again... but there is a vill whith 50 level humans and with 10 level humans... the ten level ones.. have A LOT OF silk clothing... even when you sell a stack to a vendor you get one gold per 20 piece stack. its easy... even wit lower level

so.. help youreself out!

WoW

That was rly good i made a bout 100-200 loinen in about an hour, and lucky mee! on my sever a stack of it goes for 55s. i made a bout 50g in 4days! im saving for my mount, and this is a good spot if anyone else is!

(also i have a good grinding tip! you know stranglethorn vale? if ur at least lvl 38 you can go to BB, and the n leave thru the door way. continue down the path and you'll see tones of 40-41 gorrilas that drop green items and things that sell for 7s per item! its also a great place to skin them cause o my server 20 light leather sells for about 50s per stack.)

By Anonymous, 1 year ago

Re: WoW

i will have to try this.. with my alli character..
but on horde i was very suprized..so this is what i did

i got skinning at level 41.. haha but anyways i went just out of org. and was getting my skill up and getting ALOT of light leather so u put in AH for 75s a stack and WHAM.. almost instantly 1g.50s.. so in about 15 minuts with 1.5g i think its pretty cool

Help plz

You seem nice so I'll ask you the question that noone seems to be able to answer...

I'm a 42 undead warr, but I have a hunter alt that I've decided to take all the way to 70. My warrior's leveling and progress is at a standstill, so I have decided to use him to finance my alts.

I read the tip on this sight, and having heard good things from guildies, decided ot try it out.

I was riding along the top of the cliff. I rode the whole span of the cliff in fact, and loe and behold I found a lone rundown windmill.

HOWEVER....There was no small shack nearby to be found, and the place was completely deserted, save for a couple of wolves and a few Rothides.

So in conclusion here is my question: Where is this place?!?!?! Answers from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

By Anonymous, 1 year ago

Done at Low Level

First of all, I'm on the Undermine server.

These guys don't respawn immediately, but their respawn time is pretty quick at 1-2 minutes. (However, the three guys at the shack do respawn immediately about half the time.)

My next comment is that the guys on the west end seem to always drop linen while the guys under the windmill rarely drop any linen.

I originally tried this with my level 36 Night Elf Druid. By the time I killed every single guy in the area, they started respawning again. So, this is a good place to keep yourself constantly busy and constantly collecting. In the end, with my druid, I was pulling in about 250-300 pieces of linen per hour.

I later tried it with my level 13 Human Mage. It is far more difficult, but it's a great way to level up while collecting linen, green items, and miscellaneous items. You can also pick up some beneficial (if you use them) food/drink items from the crate that respawns on the west side of the shack. Using this method, I was only collecting about 60-80 pieces of linen per hour, but I also leveled up twice by grinding.

Finally, I set up my Mage character with the Tailoring profession. This helps in a few ways.

1> Tailors can create bolts of linen cloth. These bolts can be sold for more money at the auction house or they can be used to make clothing.
Linen Cloth sells for 13 Copper at Vendors.
A Bolt of Linen Cloth requires 2 pieces of Linen Cloth.
A Bolt of Linen Cloth sells for 40 Copper at Vendors.
Therefore, a Bolt sells for 14 Copper more than just two pieces of Linen.
Of course, depending on your server, those bolts can go for FAR MORE than 40 Copper.

2> If you're on a sever where linen doesn't do very well at the Auction House, you can use your tailoring skill to make clothes that you can sell to Vendors.
This only gets you one more Copper, but if you just started Tailoring, this is where you need to start. So, let's take the White Linen Shirt that (a base recipe you get with Tailoring)...
It requires a Bolt of Linen, Coarse Thread, and Bleach. The Bolt of Linen is free for you. The thread costs 9 Copper. And the Bleach costs 25 Copper. You can sell the White Linen Shirt for 99 Copper to Vendors. Overall, it's a profit of 41 Copper.
Once you hit level 30 in Tailoring, you can start making a White Linen Robe with the same ingredients. These robes sell for 99 Copper to Vendors. So, each one is now a profit of 65 Copper.
As your tailoring skill goes up, you can make linen bags that sell for 2 Silver (with a cost of only 18 Copper for the thread). Of course, you can make more by selling them at the Auction House (or even selling them to lower level characters near the start-towns where new players spawn for the first time - Remember, they start with no money, so wait till they're level 8-12 before hitting them up for 6-10 SIlver for a bag). This works well because new characters always run out of inventory space quickly and many of them haven't gone to a nearby town with an auction house. Furthermore, a lot of them would rather pay a little extra for a bag just so they can keep grinding instead of wasting time going to an AH or searching for a bag Vendor.
