Stranglekelp Farming

Stranglekelp sells on the AH at 4 to 4.5 g for a stack of 20, and it sells FAST! The reason for this is that it's used in a ton of potions that people use to level their alchemy skills. For some reason, there is a perception that it is difficult to find and collect, but I've been collecting it on a daily basis in huge quanitites with relative ease.

All you need to do is go to Zoram Strand in Ashenvale (west side of Ashenvale) and swim out into the ocean a little. Start from Zoram Strand in the south and swim north, collecting Stranglekelp as you swim. See the map below:
http://www.thottbot.com/?m=10316

Stranglekelp is all over the place, it respawns quickly, and it usually drops 2-3 herbs per plant. Once you reach the island to the north (at the north edge of Ashenvale), swim around it, and head back south again. By the time you reach the north side of Ashenvale, most of the Stranglekelp has respawned and is ready to be picked again. I run this loop over and over again and I collect at least 2 full stacks of 20 Stranglekelp in an hour.

The best part about this method is that all of the mobs here are pretty low level (18-21) and the mobs are all far apart (you won't get multiple aggros), so this is a great strategy for anyone lvl 18 and up. Stranglekelp only requires an herbalism skill of 85 too.

Once you collect the herbs, sell each stack on the AH for 4 to 4.5g and believe me, it will sell. This is EASY MONEY.

Enjoy!

Re: Stranglekelp Farming

a good way is to make a alt join a guid with alot of high leveled people and beg.
once you get atleast 5g,you can start playing the ah,but dont buy shards, they dont sell, buy things like
if you cant get gold make a alt and get it up to Lv 7 teach it herbilisam and skinning.
a good way to lv up your skinnig lv is in cold ridge valey located in Dun Morogh,as rabbits respawn there instintly some were in the valey(+there are only low lvs so dont expect comptition for things to skin:P).
another way is to go to gold shire and ask for 15 silver, since alot of high lvs hang out here they will call you a noob and give you 15s,do this every 10 mins and youll get gold, but if you make gold,DO NOT EVER,EVER SPEND YOUR LAST GOLD.
once you get to lv 10 then try farming the Defias bandits in Northshire Valley,as they drop linen cloth, sell them in stacks of 20.
becuse they are used in many things, they will go fast,a good price is 20s bid 25s buyout.
when you can afford it buy more bags, more bags mean more space
hope this helps:P

Another great herb to farm

Another great herb to farm is Briarthorn. On my server a stack sells for a couple gold. Plus when picking it you get Swiftthistle which also sells. It's a low level herb so a good money maker for the noobs.

Definitely a great way to

Definitely a great way to earn gold. I'd suggest if you make an alt for this, make it undead (if you're Horde) best combo for stranglekelp farming (for all you slow people out there... that means you have 300% water breathing for easy underwater gathering)

I'm on the new The Forgotten Coast.. and to be honest the server is dead, but strangle kelp is a high priced thing in the Ah for sure..

Sells for 6-9 gold,

Sells for 6-9 gold, depending on the day on the server I play on. Is a good way to make money. Some more ridiculously expensive herbs you can farm are grave moss, (recommended lvl 48+) Go into SM graveyard to farm it easy. I did around 10 runs in an hour. Going in, killing first room for the DE on interrogator if he drops anything, and for the chest that spawns in there. In the graveyard part, there are 3 herb spawns. They aren't always grave moss, sometimes Kingsblood but are easy to get to. A chest also spawns in this area most of the times. Grave Moss goes for 12 gold per stack on my server. I got a stack of this, some kingsblood and a lvl 28 rare axe in an hour from here. And a 16 slot bag full of greens. Good deal.

Another good herb, Fadeleaf. I find the best place to find this is Alterac Mountains. It spawns near the humanoids here, and is easy to get to. On my server this sells for 15 gold per stack.

Last notable herb, Ghost Mushrooms. Good places to get these are in the hinterlands. I've read people saying there are some nodes in skull rock. But I found the most in the cave at the top of the place with the elite quests. Don't know the exact retail of them, but they sell for alot more than the others.

Good Luck.

Stranglekelp helped me level

Stranglekelp helped me level my herbalism from 90-130 in just a week, as well as farmed enough to sell stacks on AH. Though, on my server , you get about 80s-1g for a stack of 20, if that

Just bring out a druid. My 25 druid is absolutely perfect for this... Put on the water form, and just burn that quoted hour in 30 mins. Only limit is respawn rate. =P

I have been farming herbs

I have been farming herbs for about the last 6 months and made nearly 7k gold on it. I do it whenever I'm bored and just grind away for a few hours. Stanglekelp is a good fall-back herb that in fact, does sell for AT LEAST 3g a stack. Another WONDERFUL spot is the bay just east of Ratchet: The bed of the bay is ring-shaped around the edges with a deeper center and a sunken ship or two at the bottom. Swim around the ring of the bay, drifting ocassionally to the center, which will normally be too far to pick up on your mini map. 20-30 Stranglekelp in an hour, guaranteed.

Shhhhhhhh!!!!!

I actually get 5+ gold per stack because no one seems to sell it on my server. When I was leveling up my alchemy I went to AH to buy and it was never there. So now I farm the crap out of it and sell it. You are right on this one.
