Razorfen Downs Farming

The target is Razorfen Downs located in the southern barrens, this instance is for about levels 35-45.

To do this run you need to be a rogue level 60 (maybe a bit below) and you also need to have enchanting
When you enter the instance go into stealth and follow the map outlined (it may be a bit incorrect but u get the idea, just get to the last boss)

http://img295.imageshack.us/my.php?image=86full4fy.jpg

When you get to the part labelled 4 look around for the boss there (he is hard to miss) and kill him
he should drop a blue item, next go back into stealthed and travel to the top of the spiral and get to the main boss of RFD.
The way to kill him is to keep your back to the little cave like thing that he stands in front of other wise you will get knocked off the mountain.
Start out with cheap shot to stun him and just start spamming skills, once he summons he minions use evasion. (you might want to bring some healing pots just incase)
if done right he should die and drop 2-3 blue items.

Now comes the money making part you should have 3-4 blue items in your bag now and this is were enchanting comes in. use the skill disenchanting on the blue items
the should all disenchant into small radiant shards which sell for 10-15g on most severs.
Once you get at this it should only take about 10 mins to complete which is about 60-90g per hour PLUS sometimes a green will drop along with blues which could also sell on the AH
I suggest selling the small radiant shards for 10g so that people will chose yours over others and selling them in stacks of 1 or 2 will also increase the buying rate.

Re: Razorfen Downs Farming

I just wanted to make a few points here. NOTE: This is from a level 61 Rogue's perspective.

  • Due to over-farming and over-saturation in the market, the items that used to make big money no longer do. I've found that if you put a nice item on the AH and try to get the usual amount out of it the farmers will squash your auction by posting theirs cheaper, forcing you to sell your item for a fraction of what it's worth.
  • Farming resources and/or junk loot in the game can be monotonous, but seems to be the most consistent way to make gold. There are plenty of spots mentioned on the net that are good for farming. One only needs to look them up.

Things to look for in a good spot...
---Good vendor trash, loot or world drops - Look for gray items that sell for a good price at vendors, find mobs that drop a lot of something like silk, pick mobs that have a good chance at world drops. All of these can be researched on the net.
---Resources (i.e. skinning/mining/herbalism) - Find an area that allows you to get loot from mobs as well as resources on a regular basis. Being able to skin mobs that have good loot drops makes for faster gold.
---Respawn Rate/Enough Mobs - It's very important that you're able to keep a steady flow of mobs to kill, otherwise you're wasting time waiting for respawns and losing money.

  • Easy Kills - Faster killing equals faster money making. If XP is more important to you then pick mobs around your level.
  • I know this is stressed a lot, but you need to use your professions to maximum effect to get the most gold out of them. I currently have skinning and enchanting. I don't actively sell enchanting services, I use it to make money from disenchanting items I loot. A lot of money can be made by enchanting items, but you either have to have the mats or you have to have the gold to get high-end recipes and to get the top skill level. Lets face it that costs a LOT of money to accomplish. The short-term answer is to use a guide and work your way up to about 225 so you can disenchant most level 60 items. Then run through the low-to-mid-level instances like SM and RFD to get items to disenchant. I take the minimalist approach. I do bosses that don't require me to clear the whole instance (I'm a rogue). I stealth in and kill the bosses for the greens and blues. It takes 10 minutes to kill all non-aggro bosses in SM. Sure, you can't kill Mograin in the cathedral (i.e. you have to clear the whole thing), but you can kill the undead priest in the secret room. It makes for faster runs and faster gold and in the end you don't lose a lot of greens and you don't spend a lot of time killing mobs needlessly. The only places I'd suggest running fully are SFK, RFK and DM because they have a good green drop rate. SM is good for silk farming, so is RFK. To be honest, I don't want to have to clear instances long hours to make gold. It's monotonous and boring. Skinning, herbalism and mining also require time-consuming killing and circular runs, but add up over time and are great to have when you can benefit from them.
  • One of the biggest mistakes I've made is spending money on needless items. I've wasted a lot of gold on things I either didn't need or couldn't really use effectively after I got them. It helps to do some research on your class before buying those expensive weapons that don't quite fit your talent build. I learned by trial and error and wasting gold. Being a miser can go a long way. Gold adds up over time if you leave it alone.
  • -------------
In summary, I would again like to reiterate that the fastest way to make gold is to find the quick money-makers. For me it's running easy instances for the bosses (using stealth to bypass all the time-consuming killing) and disenchanting the items, then selling them on the AH. Do a few instances a day and it's nice steady income on top of your regular outings. I've found there are only a handful of things that really sell on the AH consistently, resources and mats being the top sellers. Putting greens on the AH is a risky business. Sometimes they sell and sometimes they don't. Enchanting mats are always in demand because people are always wanting to get their weapons or items enchanted. Up and coming enchanters need tons of mats to get up to level and the top level enchanters are too lazy to go get the mats themselves, so they buy them off the AH and make a profit by overpricing their enchants. Maybe when you make enough to get those gravy enchant recipes and reach the enchanting skill pinnacle you can start making mega gold, but as a 3/4 level enchanter you don't have a lot of options. My way is quick and painless and over time it adds up to lots of gold if you're patient. It's nice to not have to spend hours grinding to make some coin. If you have the patience to run the instances fully you'll pull in more, but you will have spent hours doing the same thing over and over again. That's not my idea of fun. An added bonus is you get to gank lowbies around the instances for fun if you're on a PVP server.

Those are my $0.02 ... take it as you will.

    Small Radiant Shards

Small Radiant Shards sell for 5-10g on the Azgalore server. I bought 6 at 5g each from a friend.

AH sells them for no less than 6g on up to 10.

I may be mistaken, but don't

I may be mistaken, but don't most the blues in SM shard into small radiants as well? Why not run through there and pick the chests while you're at it? Much better loot and easier bosses to solo.

These farming methods are all for higher lvls bt if you're going fror your lvl 40 mount (like me) farm SM gy it's really easy to solo and could at least 5-8 runs within a hour just seatlth through and take out the bosses and vendor their drops unless they're boe o.O(there's only 2 main bosses but there are 2 rare spawns) you get around 40s for each rare they drop

It always amaze me when someone putz up a how to make lots of money in hour, and they're strategy is by selling their loot on AH, just for ur information, those small radiants shards typically sell for 1-2g so ur 50g per hour just turned into 10g per hour. Nice try but there are faster ways of making money then ur strategy

    50 gold in an hour

20-25/h farming SM stick to armory or library, others are less/h
15-20/h farming Ulda from front door
30-60/h farming icecap, dreamfoil, plaguebloom, or Mountainsilversag
20/h mining copper or tin ore with fast mount
20-50/h mining thorium, 50 if you get a gem

Trust me 100g/h solo is mostly luck of getting that purple to drop.
