Renaming Dupe
Submitted by Esky on Thu, 2005-07-07 04:41.I created character with a name that violated Blizzard's TOS, as it was rude and referred to human anatomy. Somebody complained regarding my name and a Blizzard GM whispered me. He told me it was against the TOS, and next time I log on, it will ask me to rename my name. I agreed and requested five minutes to get to a safe spot to log out. I made my way to a safe spot (had to use a potion to not die) then logged out. When I logged back in, I was prompted to change my character name. Once that was done, when I came back into the world, my character was rolled back about 5 minutes, before I started heading toward a safe spot to log out. Everything was rolled back: my EXP, position, and items (my potion came back). All I got was a little email from the GM saying "don't make vulgar names"... pretty much.
So why is this important? Well, my character got rolled back, but everyone else's in the game didn't. To me, that sounds like an exploit.
Here's what I want you to try: Make a new character with a name that obviously violates the naming rules. Level him up just a couple levels so you're not level 1 (looks suspicious IMO). Email your new character a crap load of gold. Now get a friend to report you to a GM. Stay in-game until the GM whispers you. Once he tells you to log out, tell him you need a minute to get to a safe spot. Now waste 3 to 5 minutes travelling to a "safe spot" (anywhere really), then hand all your gold to your friend. Log off, log back in and change your name. IF this worked, your friend should have all your gold, but your character might be rolled back and you might have your gold too.
Obviously this isn't something that should be REPEATED. I'd say its safe to do just ONCE. However, I promise you that it successfully rolled back my character about 5 minutes. I must say, though, that YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY.

My characters name was Biznatch, and blizzard made me change my name when i was lvl 60 (!!!!!) after playing the account for ~2 years. They arent gonna make you change it if you get to lvl 5 in a few hours

Yeah, I asked two GM's if they could change my twink's name, 'cause the blowing-up hordies were prolly having a good luagh in RL about the char's name being from Roonscape (I'm an Ex-Roonscaper)... Both GM's said no...

Quik and really easy way to get gold
I tryed this a few weeks ago and it worked for me and I earnt about 3000g quite easily.
1) Make 1 alt level it to about 10
2) join a guild with lots of people
3) beg from them and when you have begged from them all - make another level 10 and mail all the gold to him/her.
4) Join the same guild again and beg from them.
5) After you have done it about 3 times in 1 guild they might be suspecting somthing.
6) make another alt and do the same.
You must delete the charecter that you have just used after mailing all your gold.
And when you have got the gold you needed mail it all to your main.

But couldn't you just create 2 chars on the same server and have one report the other, then the one with the bad name sends his gold to the other one, then logs out, you log bak in with the one you reported with, then collect the gold, and YAY! - you have a load of gold.

You couldn't do this with one account. Blizz will not be so stupid, when they're dealing with you the see your character name, the person who owns the account, and all your other personal info. If you had a SECOND account under a DIFFERENT name, preferably in a different location as well, then you could complain about the player name. Otherwise, they will realize what you're up to.

ok so i made a alt and he was named a bad named and i got him to level 21 and talk to my guild we have about 150 people and like 20 of us gave about 200g to my alt which is about we did it with 4232 g and doubled all of it and i tuke 10% of the profit though and split that with my bro who helped and and i put like 500 g in as well with my guild so i made out with 1211g in the time it tuke me to make a level 21 woot this

This is absolutely true. For example, my character's name was "Assowipo". Some ninny complained, moderator kicked me out, and when I logged back in it prompted me to switch my name to something else. I changed it to "Elassowipo". :-D Changed two letters and nobody's complained at all since.

Ask them and they let u ...nope...i had made my alt with the name almoust the same as the first one, but a guild din't want to take me ..because other char was in an other guild, with which the Guildmaster wasn't so in friends...so I messeged a GM, and told that i want to change, the name, coz some whisper me and stuff (name had Fingerer in it...so associated with Fingering...what mainly is against blizzard rules) , but they said they can't help, that i can't just change my name..:/

Duh, moron. You can't petition to change your own name, someone has to report you. If the GMs changed everyone's name on request, they'd be up to their ears in that and nothing else.
